The push for stopping gun violence is coming to the front door of the nation's largest retailer.

Protesters are planning to deliver a petition to Walmart Tuesday, demanding it stop selling semi-automatic weapons.

The company pledged it would not sell assault weapons, but they still sell semi-automatic firearms in many stores.

Right now, there's no laws against that.

"All of our decisions are based on what our customers want and the law," David Tovar, Walmart Vice President of Communication, said. "Of course if the law were to change we'd follow the law. We have a saying here, our customers are number one.  That is who we follow. That's who we listen to.  They guide our decision."

The advocacy group, Sumofus.org will lead a protest in front of the Walmart near Newtown, Conn. to present a petition.

Even though there were no guns purchased from Walmart in the Newtown shooting, the company has stopped selling the Bushmaster AR-15 rifle that the gunman used in the attack.
