Vermont Post Offices Holding Meetings to Weigh Cutbacks

Posted: Updated:
MONTPELIER, Vt. -

The Postal Service is holding meetings throughout the Green Mountain State so people can weigh in on cutbacks.

Right now there are four options being considered. One would keep the offices open, but cut back hours. Others would require closing offices and opting for rural delivery post offices at another facility or establishing a village post office that has limited services.

Recent surveys showed people chose to cut back hours rather than close offices.

Officials say in some cases, hours are only being cutback from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., but many of the 141 Post Offices in Vermont will see hours cut in half.
