As you have no doubt heard by now, it's getting a little warmer each day through this weekend, at least. (Read up on some of our other blogs for more on this, or check our current Sky Tracker forecast).
But did you know that as we hit the ground running on this more mild streak through, we are defying "the norm"? Here's what I mean by that...
On average, mid January is our coldest point in the year. The 20 year average temperatures for mid January are typically the coldest numbers we see all year long with an average high of just 27, and an average low temperature of just 10! This streak of "coldest" average temps begins around January 7th, and lasts until about the 27th...before and after these dates, the average temperatures are higher (sure by only a degree or 2 for the weeks preceding and following, but they ARE warmer!).
Here are the daily and monthly average high temperatures from stats at the Burlington National Weather Service (data taken at the airport in South Burlington).
