Police: Man Wanted in Armed Robbery

COLCHESTER, Vt. -

Police are looking for a man who robbed the Shell gas station near exit 16, off I-89 in Colchester, Vt.

A man white male in his early 20s wearing a black zip-up hoodie and light-colored bandana, walked into the gas station around 2 a.m. Monday morning, according to police. He showed a large kitchen knife to the clerk and demanded money.

Instead of handing over the cash, the clerk immediately called police. The man took off without any money. He got into a vehicle and fled the scene.

"The robberies and attempted robberies have gone up recently and this is something that is happening all too frequently," says Colchester Police Officer Derrick Kendrew.

On Friday police arrested Jason Peet, 29, of Hinesburg. They believe he's responsible for a string of robberies in the Colchester area in November.
