Ten Year Vermont Fugitive Arrested by Police, US Marshal's

Posted: Updated:

Saturday a Vermont man is being held at the Northwest State Correctional Facility after police ended their 10 year search for him early Friday morning.

Ober Hill Road in Johnson, Vermont is where the US Marshal's Service Vermont Violent Task Force and Vermont State Police found 32 year old Shane Phillips but not before a search.

US Marshal's say he was hiding in a family member's home within a false wall with a slit wide enough for him to fit in.

People who live on Ober Hill Road said they saw tons of flashing lights yesterday for the arrest of Phillips and that he's been causing problems here for quite some time.

The criminal history we've pulled on Phillips shows just how much.

In April 2002 Phillips left the scene of an accident but it only got more violent from there.

From 2002-2003 Phillips was in for four different cases for simple assault and two counts of aggravated assault, one in which he used brass knuckles. He was arrested for two of the incidents but never showed up for court.

After 2003 Phillips stayed off the radar until November 2012, when he got into a police chase and attempted to ram a trooper's car.

After a the chase Phillips escaped from Vermont State Police on foot. A resident on Ober Hill Road told me a state trooper had been parked outside his house sporadically over the past week and that the trooper came to tell him he was casing out Phillips.

Now after ten years authorities have their man. Phillips is held on $530,000 bail.
