PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -

While flu cases are growing, that's not the case for whooping cough in Clinton County.

Recently, Vermont officials declared whooping cough epidemic after 2012 saw more than 500 cases.

Because of that, Clinton County health experts say they're watching closely to see if it travels over there.

So far however it hasn't been a problem.

"We have been aware for quiet sometime that Vermont was experiencing a significant outbreak of pertussis but we have no seen that here on the New York side of the lake," said Clinton County Health Department Health Education Coordinator Laurie Williams.

Even though it's not a problem now, health experts say it's still important to make sure you get vaccinated because they say that can always change.
