ST. ALBANS, Vt. -

A tanker truck rolled on its side into the median on I-89 south between exits 18 and 19 Friday morning.

Officials say the tanker was filled with 9,200 gallons of off road diesel fuel. The Vermont Hazmat team was called in and shutdown the left lane.

As a precaution, the fuel needed to be drained before they could remove the truck.

"There was no real fire dangers here, just worried about the environment," Harold Cross, St. Albans Town Fire Chief, said. "We don't want the tank to breech so we are going to empty it."

Officials say everything was contained and there were no major leaks.

The driver of the truck may have been crowded toward the median while he was next to another truck.
