PERU, N.Y. -
An armed robber held up a convenience store in Peru, New York, around 10:30 last night.
It happened at the Stewart's on Route 22.
Police say a white man, dressed in dark clothes with most of his face covered, pulled out a handgun and demanded cash.
After getting some money, the thief took off in a small, dark colored car with a large rear-wing spoiler.
People were surprised to hear the news.
"There's no excuse for it, the gentleman last night could have been shot and killed," James Hendrie said.
Police are working on getting some surveillance pictures, but until then, if you have any information, contact the New York State Police, in Plattsburgh.
