Junior's Downtown Offers Free Christmas Meal

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

One local restaurant opened up its doors Tuesday, not for customers, but to help feed people who couldn't afford a Christmas meal.

For the eighth year, Junior's Downtown in Burlington served free hot meals to the homeless.

It's their annual "need to feed" event.

This year nearly 50 volunteers helped serve more than 200 plates.

Junior's employees say this is a perfect way to give back to the community.

"We're very passionate about traditions like the Christmas tradition and community together as a whole so we're here just to say Merry Christmas and give a little back to the community," Junior's Downtown Manager Franco Salese.

In addition to a free meal, the restaurant also handed out a number of other items donated from Costco for people to take with them.
