SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. -
In just hours it will be Christmas and many people will open their gifts. That's if, their loved ones got all their shopping done. We caught up with some shoppers who prefer waiting until the last minute.
University Mall was busy Monday evening but not packed, "Yesterday was definitely a lot busier than today," said Taylor Piche.
Piche is a graphic designer for Vermont Flannel, she's seen a variety of customers shopping, "Some people are getting something for either a family member or they are returning something, it really just depends but mostly it's last minute shoppers."Many of them came out for the pre-Christmas deals but others simply needed the last minute gifts.
"Yes, that last minute person, oh that person got me a gift and I forget to get them something," said Kimberly Alvord.
The owner of Rudolph and Me, an ornament stand, she says it's no surprise who is doing the last minute shopping, "Today is a men day, a man day. Today is a great man day, they always come in, this morning was a little slow but then after lunch they just come in for the rush and then by 6 o'clock there will be some stragglers so I always still open a little bit later just to help those guys out," said Alvord.
"We are the stereotypical males," said Patrick McMackin who is shopping for his mom and grandma.
His dad says shopping on the 24th is strategic, "Yep, every year the 24th the parking is easy, the traffic is easy and the shops are easy, every year it's the best time to go," said Mike McMackin
But he's not sure his wife agrees,
Reporter: "Does she know you guys have this tradition?"
"She does and she doesn't like it."
