PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -
In neighborhoods across Clinton County, New York police went into a number of homes and arrested nearly 30 suspected criminals.
"Some of these people have sold their own pills, they've also sold pilled that they've acquired through other means," said Clinton County District Attorney Andrew Wylie.
Wylie spoke about the drug bust Friday.
While he was excited to share the success of getting these people off the street, he says 2012 has seen a rise in these types of arrests.
Overall, 84 people were caught buying, selling or using drugs and police have found nine meth labs.
High numbers police say because they're paying more attention.
"We will find you, we will arrest you and we will prosecute you because it's not tolerable in Clinton County," said Clinton County Sheriff David Favro.
Because they say drugs are the sources for other crimes across the area.
"75% of the crime that we deal with as a whole is somehow rooted in narcotics," said Clinton County Assistant District Attorney Doug Collyer.
The roundup didn't happen all at once, instead people decided to do it over the course of a week.
Where they arrested 29 people at homes like this and while they say that saved overtime money they say at least one person heard about it and was able to get away.
When we asked if that was a problem they say they feel confident they'll be able to make an arrest.
And as these people head to court, they face sentences ranging from 2.5 to 36 years behind bars.
In addition to the one person who was able to get away, police say they weren't able to find two others.
An arrest warrant has been put out on all three of them.
