BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Some areas of Vermont are in for strong damaging winds that could cause power outages.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind warning from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday for the western slopes and higher terrain of the Green Mountains, including Rutland, Underhill, Ripton, and Cambridge.

Forecasts are calling for winds of 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph. The weather service says scattered power outages and downed trees are likely.
