Toy Drive for Newtown, Conn.

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

People can send some "Vermont Strong" spirit to kids at the Newtown Elementary School.

At Skinny Pancake in Burlington and other businesses, boxes have appeared to be filled with toys.  Organizers of "Vermonters Supporting Newtown Connecticut" say they're looking for unwrapped toys, stuffed animals or games for kids age five through nine.

The drive was put together by a Connecticut native who now lives in Vermont.

"Growing up so close in Connecticut, only about 45 minutes away, and having a mom as a kindergarten teacher, I was really struck by this particular tragedy and I just felt like I had to do something positive for the children. Give them something to be happy about and excited," says Courtney McInvale, organized drive.

The boxes will be at businesses in Burlington and Montpelier until Saturday, when the toys will taken to Connecticut.
