Law Limiting Commercial Volumes Goes into Effect Thursday

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

A major piece of legislation goes into effect Thursday.

The law limiting the volume of TV commercials was signed by President Obama 2 years ago.

So, TV broadcasters will have to back down on the volume of those pesky commercials.

The "Calm Act" requires broadcasters to install technology, ensuring commercials don't air any louder than the programs in which they appear.

The Federal Communications Commission is now tasked with policing the law.
