Gas Station Owner Fights Back

Posted: Updated:
COLCHESTER, Vt. -

In the ongoing fight over gas prices in Northwest Vermont, one of the big gas station owners is fighting back.

Skip Vallee, owner of dozens of gas stations in the area, had an advertisement put together.

The ad attacks U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders and what Vallee sees as a strange relationship with Costco, which wants to add a gas station to its Colchester store.

"Bernie sided with a multi-national billion dollar corporation over Vermonters. Supporting development that will increase traffic and idling emissions," says the narrator during the ad.

Vallee says the ad needs some work before airing on TV, which he says will happen.

We reached out to Senator Sanders.

His staff defended the senator's record on the environment and says the ad distracts from the real issue of what's behind the higher gas prices in Northwest Vermont.
