TD Bank to Pay For Domestic Partner Benefits

CHERRY HILL, N.J. -

TD Bank announced it will offset a big burden. It's helping out the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender employees that have to pay for domestic partner benefits.

When LGBT employees enroll their domestic partnership for health benefits, they get extra taxes that married straight couples do not pay.

This tax equalization will take effect beginning January 1.

TD Is one of the first banks to do this.

The process will include making a one time payment at the end of the year to its LGBT employees.

That will be equal to the extra taxes same sex domestic partners pay for benefits over the course of a year.
