In St. Albans, they're getting a running start to ring in the holidays.
On Thursday, the second "Running of the Bells" took place. Some 500 people took part in the one-mile run, walk or jog through the city.
All that was required was people had to be wearing jingle bells. Trophies were awarded for the best costumes.
"We wanted to create a family friendly fun run that highlighted downtown St. Albans and brought people out to just enjoy the winter, get outdoors," says Suzanne Lynn, an organizer.
The event was also a fundraiser for the United Way's Operation Happiness.
People could drop off canned food or gifts for kids that will be handed out over the next couple weeks.
