MONTPELIER, Vt. -
Consumers and businesses who bought televisions, monitors and laptop computers with LCD screens maybe eligible for a cash refund. The deadline to file is Thursday, December 6.
According to a press release, a billion dollar settlement fund, made up from 10 manufacturers, was created because manufacturers illegally raised the prices for LCD screens in these products.
Consumers could collect $25, $100, $200 and businesses could collect thousands of dollars depending on the number of televisions, monitors, and laptop computers purchased between 1999 and 2006.
For a refund, the press release says, consumers and businesses have to file a claim. Consumers can visit this website to file: www.LCDclass.com.
24 states including Vermont and New York are part of the settlement.
