MOOERS, N.Y. -

Police in New York say someone is calling people in the Champlain and Mooers, N.Y. areas trying to get money in memory of Eric Monty.

Monty was an ambulance driver and was killed after suffering a heart attack last Tuesday.

The person involved is introducing themselves as a member of the Champlain Fire Department and asking for credit/debit card information.

The fire department says it's not them and it's a scam.

Anyone with information on this scam should contact New York State Police at (518)-298-5200.
