CORNISH, N.H. -

A New Hampshire hunter is recovering Monday morning after he was gored by a deer.

54-year-old Everett Gray, of Cornish, N.H., shot the deer near his home last Thursday.

He moved in to finish the kill with a knife.

That's when he says the 8 point buck drove his antlers into his abdomen, lifting him off the ground.

According to the Valley News, the buck pushed him down the slope before he managed to dislodge himself.

He was treated at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center while his family and friends went back into the woods to get the buck.
