Rep. Clark's Death Brings Attention to Driver Safety

Posted: Updated:

Vermont State Police are asking motorists to be careful when on the road this winter and take the necessary precautions to stay safe.

"Give yourself a little more time in the morning assess the situation. Clean your car off. All your windshields and windows should be clean," Senior Trooper Justin Busby said.

Busby also mentioned that the sun rising causes visibility problems for drivers traveling south on Route 7.

"Cause of the direction of travel and the way the sun is yes you really need to slow down," Busby said.

And if you must pull over to clear your windshield police say it's best to get far from the travel lane.

"We would recommend that you either pull into a private driveway or parking lot. Get off the road because if you're on the travel portion of the highway someone else who might be blinded or obstructed or distracted while driving could potentially try and do the same thing you are and merge into you run into you or go off the road," Busby said.
