HIGHGATE, Vt. -
Update: A car crash in Highgate, VT has taken the life of 35 year-old St. Albans resident Marissa Knight according to a Vermont State Police press release.
The accident on Highgate Rd. was a near head on collision with 23 year-old Nicole Greene who was transported to Fletcher Allen with serious injuries after the crash but police say doctors believe she is expected to survive.
According to the police report Greene was traveling south in the northbound lane at the time of the crash.
Police also said in the release, "Due to the severity of the crash this investigation continues. At this time it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor."
Vermont State Police are investigating a deadly car crash on Route 207 near the intersection of Cook Road.
The Highgate Fire Department was on the scene and said they had to use the "jaws of life" in order to remove Greene from the car.
