Isolation Booth At Elementary School in Washington Causing Controversy

Posted: Updated:
LONGVIEW, Wash. -

An isolation booth at an elementary school in Washington is causing quite a controversy.

Some parents are upset about the room, but school administrators defend it.

They say the booth is used to isolate unruly children and allow them a brief and peaceful getaway.

It's located in a storage area and has two peep holes at different heights.

Inside, students can sit on the floor of the small padded room.

The ceiling features air holes for ventilation.

No more than 10 students are allowed inside and the school has permission from their parents.

Officials say when the door is locked a school staff member is outside watching what happens inside.
