SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. -
The RV industry is showing signs of economic recovery and area dealerships agree.
At Pete's RV Center on Williston Road in South Burlington, Vt., sales have gone up for the past 3 years and this year is their best.
It seems to be a similar trend across the country.
The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association reports shipments from manufacturers to dealers are expected to rise 10 percent in 2012. It could gain an additional 4.5 percent next year.
"Where people are cutting back on things and maybe when they camped they traveled to a lot more locations," Phil LeClair, of Pete's RV Center, said. "Now what's happening is that they're staying closer to home. They'll get their camper, put it in one location and leave it there for the summer."
LeClair says they've been able to hire more workers and open a second location in Indiana.
