A New York tourist attraction is apparently becoming more popular.

Fort Ticonderoga reports visitors and donations were up this year.

Paid attendance increased nearly 6 percent and admissions revenue increased 18 percent compared to the year before.

"Fort Ticonderoga has been able to redefine what is possible and generate increased income and support to fulfill its mission," Beth Hill, Fort Ticonderoga President and CEO, said in a press release. "We still have a great deal of work to accomplish, but we are very pleased with 2012's successes."

Field trip attendance is also reported as being up.

Donations to the site rose almost 40% this year.

Fort Ticonderoga is a not-for-profit historic site located on Lake Champlain.
