Red Sox Players Visit Children at Fletcher Allen Tuesday

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Kids being treated at Fletcher Allen's children's hospital got a big surprise.

Two Boston Red Sox players visited them as part of the team's Goodwill holiday road trip.

Pedro Ciriaco and Ryan Lavarnway put smiles on the faces of some of the hospital's sickest kids.

They say they hope to get Red Sox Nation for the upcoming season while spreading some holiday cheer.

But, the real reason for the road trip isn't about them.

"We're happy to be here. Seeing the kids seeing their faces light up it's a side benefit. But, that's not why we're here and it makes us feel good but we're here to make them feel good," Lavarnway said.

They will be visiting several other places around the state Tuesday as well as meeting the governor.
