ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. -

Last year, Irene had a damaging impact on Christmas tree farms.

Whites Tree Farm in Essex Junction, Vt. was under water after flooding from Irene.

It takes nearly 8 years for a tree to grow from seed into a Christmas tree.

While flooding killed thousands of trees, many were able to survive.

The owner says this week is the busiest time for business.

"We lost thousands of trees but the rest of them came through fine, we got very fortunate when it hit, if it hit a few weeks later it could've been devastating but we rode right through it," Bob White, Owner of Whites Tree Farm, said.

Last year, it took them a month to clean up after Irene and cost around $25,000.
