ISLE LA MOTTE, Vt. -

Fire crews responded to a structure fire in Isle La Motte at 3283 West Shore Road Monday.

Isle La Motte Fire Chief Bruce Noble says the house is on the state register of historical places. He believes it was built in the 1840s.

Noble was the first to arrive at the scene and he says upon arrival the home was fully involved.

The homeowners were not there. A dog was home at the time, but they have not been able to locate it.

The home is being considered a total loss. The cost to rebuild will be around $ 700,000,000.

Fire officials do not know the cause or origin of the fire. They say wind did play a factor and caused the fire to spread quickly.

Fire investigators will be arriving later Monday.

Numerous stations were called out around 12:20 p.m.

Part of West Shore Road is currently blocked off.
