Police in Colchester and South Burlington, VT Investigating String of Armed Robberies

Police are investigating a string of armed robberies Sunday night in both South Burlington, Vt. and Colchester, Vt.

South Burlington Police are looking for a man, who they say, robbed the Simon's Grocery and Deli on Shelburne Road at gunpoint around 9 p.m. Sunday night.

Police say the man is about 5'8" with a medium build. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and a white bandanna covering his face.

He walked into the store and demanded money from the clerk. Police say he then took out a gun in his sweatshirt. The clerk gave him some cash and then he fled on foot.

Police in Colchester, Vt. are also looking for, what could be, the same man involved in two armed robberies in Colchester, Vt. Sunday night.

Just before midnight, police were called to the Champlain Farms Gulf Station on Route 7.

Police say a white man was wearing jeans, pull over jacket, and bandanna covering his face. He pulled out a barreled handgun and demanded cash.

The suspect pointed the gun at the clerk and pulled the trigger, but it didn't fire.

He tried to open the register then left without getting any money.

The second robbery in Colchester happened at the Maplefields Mobile Station just off exit 16.

Police say the clerk described the same suspect as in the other two robberies.

According to police, the man walked into the store and asked for a pack of cigarettes before pulling the same gun out of his jacket.

He took about $100 and fled on foot.

No vehicles were seen at any of the robberies.

Police say all three robberies are very similar.
