With Thanksgiving over and all the stuffing gone, it's time to start thinking about Christmas and Church Street starts the holiday off in a big way.
"It's beautiful, it's gorgeous, yeah it's always a good tree," said Nancy Dinkel, of Burlington.
Hundreds of people crowded on Church Street in their coats and hats, all to see the giant Christmas Tree come to life.
"All the people, it's a little overwhelming but it's totally worth it," said Dan Johnson, of Hinesburg.
People came from near and far like Rachel Ryder and her family from Georgia, "It's beautiful, actually I went to school here and this is the first time I've ever see it light up."
This is the 30th year Church Street Marketplace has held a tree lighting ceremony and they say it gets better every year.
"Given the amount of people that show up every year, it's really a testament of how strong the fabric of our community is and how much people enjoy being together and being out just to enjoy the season."
The tree has been lit, it took 50 thousand lights to light up this 50 foot tree and it's something the community is very excited for and really puts them in the Christmas spirit.
"It's a beautiful tree and I'm glad it came from Vermont," said Johnson.
It came from Colchester from the Villemaire family who are in awe when they see it all lit up on Church Street.
"It's beautiful; it's too bad I wasn't able to light it like that at the house."
But some of the family admit they might miss looking out and seeing it in the yard.
"A little bit but I'm excited it's going on Church Street."
And as Santa greets children under the tree, it really is beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
