SWANTON, Vt. -
Firefighters are currently batting a forest fire off of Pond Road in Swanton.
Fox44 Photographer Tyson Foster says it is located on-top of a quarry. He says crews are transporting water via ATV because the road is too steep to drive up.
Swanton Assistant Fire Chief Travis Greeno says employees at the quarry were burning a pile of logs, when heavy winds swept-in, causing the fire to spread.
Greeno says the employees did not have a permit to burn, Friday.
So far, six to eight acres have burned. An official says the fire has stretched from Pond Road to Sweet Hollow Road.
