SARANAC LAKE, N.Y. -

Police in Saranac Lake, NY are searching for two suspects involved in a shooting, but are now exploring the possibility it might have been a self-inflected gunshot wound.

Police say around 7 p.m. Tuesday night they received a call from someone reporting they were shot. The 55-year-old male was located on the train trestle near Pine St. in the Village of Saranac Lake.

He was taken to hospital with a non-life threatening gun shot wound.

The suspects are described as two white males around 5'9" with stocky builds. Both males are approximately 25-35 years of age. They were wearing dark thin parka type jackets. One of the males was cleanly shaven with shaggy hair, the other had a fairly thick full beard.

Police say the victim may have known the suspects and this doesn't appear to be a random act.

The weapon has been recovered. It was in the river, near the train tracks, according to police.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Village Police at (518)-891-4422.
