NH Could Save $115 Million If It Decides Not to Expand Medcaid Under Fed Health Reform Law

CONCORD, N.H. -

New Hampshire could save nearly $115 million if it decides not to expand medicaid under the new federal health care law.

But it would lose nearly $3 billion in federal aid toward health care for the state's uninsured.

The Health and Human Services Department released part one of a study on the impact of expanding medicaid.

If the state expands medicaid, it could cost an estimated $85 million dollars over 7 years.

New Hampshire's health care providers would share in the nearly $3 billion flowing into the state from the federal government.
