Hundreds of rockets have launched over the past few days into Israel by Palestinian militants.
The fighting is the heaviest in 4 years.
It came after Israel launched an air assault Wednesday.
Hamas' military chief was killed in that attack.
Israel's defense minister has also called up the reserves.
