FERRISBURGH, Vt. -
If the words "Love Shack" have you thinking about that catchy song from the late 80s, that's understandable.
But, for baked good lovers in Vermont, the name might not have you thinking about fresh homemade cookies!
There's a lot to love about the Love Shack in north Ferrisburgh, Vt.
Inside, breathe in the smell of warm baked cookies meant to stimulate the senses and evoke the idea of family.
Take notice, all of the flavors here describe some type of love.
"We started with the idea we wanted to make an all natural premium frozen cookie dough, just as good as any mom would make for her kids from scratch," Suzanna Miller, Owner of Vermont Cookie Love, said.
Suzanna Miller and her husband developed Vermont Cookie Love five and a half years ago.
"We wanted to create an alternative to bigger brands on the market," Miller said.
And a more natural one. As the Millers recently announced, some of the ingredients they use are now GMO free.
"We wanted to make sure it was cane sugar, not beat sugar ...Anything with soy less think like chocolate you want to make sure it's a GMO free version...We made some changes to cranberries we used because of the sweetener...Then, we changed to an organic canola oil," Miller said.
Because of the amount of dairy used, these homemade cookies are not officially certified by the non GMO project.
But Miller says she hopes to change that in the future as the project tackles the challenge of finding a clean line of GMO free milk.
"The whole GMO project is trying to develop their guidelines for how to certify dairy," Miller said.
Miller says The Love Shack will have an open house this Sunday.
Starting at noon, the everyone is invited to drop by and check out the holiday gift boxes.
