$1.3 Million Goes into Old House for New UVM President

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

It's a home that's housed many past presidents of the University of Vermont.

But for the past ten years, century-old features kept anyone from living there.

But after 1.3 million dollars worth of renovations, the new President and his wife will move in to the historic building on South Williams Street in Burlington.

"On the campus, in the city and around the state, people are pleased that the President will be residing here and it's reflective of Vermont, it's not a super fancy luxurious place, but it's a beautiful old home," VP of Finance for UVM, Richard Cate said.

Also making UVM news, there will be a tuition hike this coming year. But it's less than three percent... that's the lowest increase the school has seen in 36 years.
