Democratic U.S. Representative Bill Owens and republican challenger Matt Doheny did some last minute campaigning in Plattsburgh on Tuesday.

Owens spent the day with friends and will watch results Tuesday night at the nearby American Legion Post.

A recent poll says the incumbent is beating Doheny by just one point.

"We obviously are hopeful that when people go out and vote that we will see an expansion of the lead that he had in the last poll," said Owens.

Republican candidate Matt Doheny was at the Clinton County Government Center Tuesday afternoon.

This is his second race against Owens. During the last go-round it ended up being a close race, but this time Doheny is confident.

"This time is truly a one-on-one battle and again we're optimistic, but we're working right until nine o'clock on the dot to make sure that everyone knows we're working," Doheny said.

Polls in New York close at 9 p.m.
