WILLISTON, Vt. -

The Vermont State Police are giving a helping hand in the relief effort.

11 troopers are being dispatched to New Jersey to join troopers from Maine.

They'll be assisting law enforcement from the Garden state.

They will be sworn in as certified New Jersey police officers before beginning their duties.

"We were told to come prepared to get wet, come prepared with the wet gear," Rob Evans, Captain at the Vermont State Police, said. "Some of the areas that we will be going to have sustained some pretty good flood damage so we're prepared for just about anything."

They'll be working in Ocean County, N.J.
