Cash in Your Halloween Candy to Support the Troops

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -

If you're looking for a way to spread a little holiday cheer to troops, how about having your little one cash in on their candy?

Dentists across the country, including "High Peaks Dental" in Plattsburgh, are participating in "Operation Gratitude."

Kids get a dollar a pound for Halloween candy.

It's a way to cutback on sugar intake, and give back to our troops.

"Especially since we have them send a little message to the troops, they're not just taking their money and leaving, they're doing something else in return to make it more personable and instill that value in them," Amanda Tourvile and Peggy Cartier of High Peaks Dental said.

In exchange for their candy, kids will get the money and a toothbrush.

For the next couple days, candy can be dropped off between 4 and 6-30 at night.
