Georgia Mountain Wind Turbine Pieces Are On the Move

MILTON, Vt. -

The large blades for wind turbines on Georgia Mountain are on the move.

The blades made their way from the Burlington rail yard early Wednesday morning.

Wednesday afternoon, some were brought to the top.

The 4 turbines will help power 2,500 Burlington Electric customers.

Project leaders say they're thrilled to finally have pieces to work on.

"So yes it's exciting. Our large crane to erect the towers for the turbines is on site now and being assembled and so they're all gearing up for towers to being able to go up next week," said project manager Martha Staskus.

During Wednesday's trip, one of the trucks hit a guardrail, but developers say it didn't do any serious damage.

They will spend the next three days bringing the remaining blades up.

The project is expected to be completed by December.
