ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. -
The first zombie run in the Green Mountain State took place Saturday.
More than 900 zombie painted faces registered for the obstacle course run. All proceeds for the event go to the Smile Train, which helps repair cleft pallet syndrome.
Volunteers came from as far away as New York City and Montreal.
"With a turnout like this, it's fabulous. We were expecting this number if not a bit more but next year it's gonna double easily," says Holly Burnham, zombie run organizer.
Even though this is the first zombie run in Vermont, it has also been done in 25 other states around the country.
