National Average for Gas Drops for 10 Straight Days

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

Some relief at the pump as the national average drops for ten straight days.

The national average is running at about $3.72.

That's down about 15 cents from the fall peak.

The national average is still higher from this time of year.

Gas prices typically drop in the fall when refiners switch to cheaper fuel blends and drivers take a break from road trips.

This year, a series of refinery and pipeline problems sent gasoline supplies plummeting and prices soaring.

The problems have started to clear up and prices are responding.
