Stolen Credit Card Shopping Spree

Posted: Updated:
WILLISTON, Vt. -

Williston police say they are looking for the man who went on a shopping spree with a stolen credit card.

Police say the man racked up thousands of dollars in charges at Best Buy, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Toys"R"Us.  They say his quick work added up to $6,300, including several laptops.

Police say the man stole the card by prying open a locker at a Williston health club.

"It's just one of those things where it's a crime of opportunity. Apparently this locker room must have been empty temporarily. I also believe this is someone who went to the gym specifically for this purpose," says Sgt. Bart Chamberlain, Williston Police Department.

Police are working with the stores to release surveillance video.

They say they are also looking into whether the man behind this spree is the same one who pulled off similar crimes last year and the year before.
