House Oversight Committee Holds First Hearing on Libya Attack

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

We may soon know exactly what happened in the Benghazi attack that killed U.S. ambassador Chris Stevens and 3 other Americans.

The first congressional hearing on the Libya incident happened Wednesday.

One thing is now clear about the attack, it was not in response to an Internet video.

In testimony before the House Oversight Committee, each witness referred to it as an orchestrated unprecedented terrorist attack.

The Committee Chair, Darrell Issa (R), insisted the Obama Administration failed to answer requests for more security at the compound, putting lives at risk.

"To start off by saying you had the correct number and our ambassador and three other individuals are dead and three people are in the hospital recovering, because it only took moments to breech that facility. Some how that doesn't ring true with the American people," Issa said.

There seemed to be agreement that the compound was out gunned.

The question now is whether or not reasonable security measures could have saved lives.
