Youngest RNC Delegate Visits Vermont

Posted: Updated:
ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. -

A rising, young star of the Republican Party says his party should not write off Vermont.

18-year-old Evan Draim was a featured speaker at the Vermont Taxpayers Picnic in Essex Junction Sunday.

Draim, who is from Virginia, was the youngest delegate to the Republican National Convention. He says the Republican Party should reinvest in Vermont.

"This state has a history of wanting to be independent, be, have their own culture and their own identity. And if the federal government is infringing on that, which I think it is now, that's a great opportunity for us to make inroads into what has traditionally a blue state," says Draim.

Draim is not predicting Mitt Romney to win in Vermont.  But he says future top contenders could do well, if republicans start winning more local and state races.
