HARTFORD, Vt. -

(AP) - Vermont State Police say a man found dead on Interstate 91 was struck by at least two different vehicles.

Police say both drivers had been traveling in foggy, rainy weather south on the interstate in Hartford early Saturday when they saw a large object in the road. They thought it was a dead animal. As they got closer, they saw it was a person lying in the right travel lane. Both drivers were unable to avoid colliding with the body.

Police referred to the dead man as a pedestrian. They identified him as 24-year-old Mikhail Lomakin of Norwich.

Lomakin was taken to the medical examiner's office in Burlington for an autopsy.

Police are asking if anyone saw a pedestrian on the road between 1 a.m. and 2:30 a.m.
