2 VT Men Charged With Graffiti in Train Yard

HARTFORD, Vt. -

Two Vermont men are facing felony charges that they caused more than $100,000 damage by spray painting elaborate images on railroad cars and concrete overpasses in the White River Junction area.

Police say 23-year-old Brian Dow and 24-year-old Daniel Barmore, both of Hartford, were arrested Tuesday after police conducted an undercover operation.

Police say they began their operation after railroad employees reported extensive vandalism in the rail yards. They said someone was spray painting large murals on boxcars.

Railroad officials say the cars must be repainted so automated tracking systems on the cars will work.

Police say Dow took advanced painting three times while a student at Johnson State College. They say they "applaud Dow's artistic talent, but his choice of canvas was illegal."
