Plattsburgh's Mayor's Budget Reduces Library Funding

Posted: Updated:
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -

Last year, the Plattsburgh Public Library received a $60,000 dollar boost.

And employees reduced their hours and pay to keep their jobs and help close a $150,000 dollar gap.

But the mayor's proposed budget this year doesn't include any extra money.

Employees tell us they're concerned, but don't know what would happen if the budget is cut.

And people just hope the library stays open.

"I enjoy it, it doesn't cost me money. I come in I get a book, I read it and I return it. And I would hate to see the funding go away," said Carole Sorrell.

Our calls to the library's director were not returned.

The mayor's proposed budget will be reviewed by the city council later this year.
