LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -
The Lake Placid Police Department are trying to identify two suspects who stole from two businesses on September 27.
According to a press release, a white male about 6'2", wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans distracted a clerk at the Adirondack Decorative Arts and Craft store while other suspect(s) went behind a display counter and stole 24 pieces of jewelry. The stolen jewelry consisted of a diamond solitaire ring, 2 sets of cuff links, around 5 sets of broaches, and other miscellaneous jeweled rings.
The other burglary, police say, happened at Placid Planet Bicycle's. Three Latino suspects, 2 males and 1 female stole a Trek Speed Concept road bike. The female distracted the employees while the men stole the bike and then placed another bike in its place.
Police say these thefts may or may not be connected.
