Romney: VT Military Overseas May Not Be Able to Get Their Absentee Ballots on Time

Posted: Updated:
MONTPELIER, Vt. -

Mitt Romney has some harsh words for Vermont.

His presidential campaign is complaining some Vermont military serving overseas might not be able to get their absentee ballots on time for their votes to count.

In a letter to Jim Condos, Vermont Secretary of State, Romney's camp says delays by Condos' office caused 53 towns to miss the deadline.

The deadline was this past Saturday, 45 days before the election.

That gives vets enough time to return them before election day.

Condos says the recount in the progressive primary race delayed the printing of the November ballots.

However, town clerks were sent electronic copies of the ballots before Saturday's deadline. Vets should have received them on time.
